Evaluation of Soil-Water Characteristic Curve and Pore-Size Distribution of Fine-Grained Soils

A soil’s physical properties, mineral types, and pore structure significantly influence the shape properties of soil-water characteristic curve (SWCC). This study investigated effects types on SWCC pore-size distribution (PSD). Eight different soils from an alluvial deposit in Istanbul Adapazar?/Türkiye were used study. The test samples prepared by compaction at optimum water content (OWC) wet side (wet OWC). consolidation slurry. PSDs calculated using SWCCs evaluated with scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis. In addition, all determined X-ray diffraction soil which contains illite-type minerals has higher matric suction than containing kaolin-type. effect clay percentage is more pronounced silty plasticity activity. Soil increased decreasing clayey soils. air entry contents rose as void ratio, liquid limit, content, increased. conditions affected macropore micropore structure. ratio macro-micro sizes rise content.
